This year, there are many toys that are being brought to life with amazing technology. The Ravensburger Augmented Reality Puzzle is a toy that takes traditional puzzles and turns them into something much more interesting.

Putting puzzles together is a great hobby and tons of fun for kids and adults alike. But imagine if you could put a puzzle together and then use digital technology to make it come alive to some degree?

Using an iPad 2 or an iPhone, you can do this with a Ravensburger Augmented Reality puzzle –and there are four to choose from. Once you put the puzzle together, you aim your iPad or iPhone at it and it animated the scene for you.

The AR Puzzle App that you download to make these puzzles come alive is free – you just need the iOS platform. You can choose which audio language you want – English, French, Spanish, Dutch, German or Italian.

When you finish, the puzzle will be about 27 by 20 inches. The cardboard that it’s made with is very sturdy so that it won’t fall to pieces and it’s a glare-free paper on top so that you can enjoy the puzzle’s digital features.

The first puzzle you can choose from in the Ravensburger Augmented Reality line is one called Underwater. It’s a 1,000-piece puzzle that’s very rich in color. When activated, you can go “fishing” underwater for certain species of fish.

You’ll see a fish swim by and then be able to go find that fish on your puzzle scene. It’s a great game for kids to play! There’s even a timed version that adds a bit of competition to the mix.

The second puzzle you might want to buy is the Animals in Africa puzzle. You get to see a finished puzzle of African animals gathered at a watering hole. When you animate it, you get to see the migration aspects of that part of the world. It’s like being on an African Safari!

The third Ravensburger puzzle is of Paris, France. Once you put the puzzle together, you can animate it so that you see a 360-degree view of the City of Lights at night! The audio will point out the sites and sounds of Paris.

Lastly, there is the Lofoten, Norway puzzle. This animated puzzle turns a sunny day in Norway into a winter wonderland, where you’ll see snow falling onto the scene. The quaint scene has mountains, sky, water, buildings, and more.
